Évariste Vital Luminais (October 13, 1822 - 1896) was a French painter. He was born in Nantes. He scored a success at the Paris Salon of 1884 with the painting Flight of King Gradlon. Another Luminais' important painting is The Sons of Clovis II. He was famous for his historical paintings, particularly those of France during the Roman occupation. His students included Emily Sartain (whose companion, Mary Cassatt, disapproved of her studying with Luminais) and Albert Maignan.
